Teaching physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual alignment
SHEI’s educational mission is rooted in the understanding that health is a holistic state involving the body, mind, emotions, and spirit. Our programs teach individuals and communities how the human body is designed to heal, restore, and thrive when supported with proper lifestyle habits, nourishing foods, balanced energy, and spiritual grounding. Rather than offering isolated ideas or temporary trends, we provide a cohesive framework that empowers people to make lifelong choices that promote vitality.
Holistic Health Foundations
Our foundation courses explore the core principles of natural health. Students learn how the body’s systems work together in harmony and how daily habits can either strengthen or weaken that harmony. Instruction connects digestion, immunity, detoxification, circulation, and nervous system balance with mental clarity, emotional stability, and spiritual alignment. This holistic perspective helps students understand why symptoms arise and how restoring the body’s natural rhythms can lead to improved function and well-being.
LifeSkills™ and Practical Daily Habits
LifeSkills™ offers practical insight into the routines that shape everyday wellness. This part of the curriculum shows how meaningful change occurs through consistent daily actions, such as mindful eating, structured hydration, balanced movement, quality rest, emotional awareness, and the creation of peaceful personal environments. Students learn strategies for organizing their homes and schedules, managing stress, supporting family health, and building habits that sustain vitality over a lifetime.
Nutrition for Everyday Living
Nutrition education at SHEI focuses on clarity, simplicity, and practical understanding. We guide learners through the role that whole, plant-forward foods play in supporting energy, metabolism, hormonal balance, detoxification, and digestive ease. Concepts like macronutrient balance, PRAL and pH dynamics, food combining, hydration, metabolic efficiency, and weight regulation are explained in ways that are easy to apply in daily life. The goal is to help people recognize how food interacts with the body and how to make nutritional choices that support long-term health without confusion or restriction.
Cooking and Culinary Education
Our culinary education transforms nutritional knowledge into enjoyable, everyday practice. Students learn to prepare flavorful and nourishing meals, from entrées and vegetable dishes to sauces, salads, breads, desserts, smoothies, nut milks, and herbal beverages. Instruction emphasizes accessibility, cultural relevance, creativity, and affordability. By making natural cooking straightforward and enjoyable, we empower individuals and families to sustain healthy eating habits with confidence.
Herbal, Nutritional, and Functional Concepts
This section introduces students to the world of herbal support, mineral balance, and functional natural wellness. Learners gain a foundational understanding of botanicals, herbal categories, and safe usage. They explore how herbs influence organ systems and how nutritional supplementation supports modern lifestyles. Instruction also includes understanding laboratory values through a functional lens, recognizing patterns of nutrient depletion, and developing the skills to support wellness with natural remedies and informed guidance.
Energy, Mind-Body Balance & Spiritual Grounding
SHEI teaches that a balanced inner life is essential for health. In this part of the program, students explore the relationship between emotional patterns, nervous system tension, spiritual alignment, and physical vitality. Instruction includes the physiology of stress, practices for mental clarity, techniques for calming the mind, and faith-based principles that emphasize purpose, prayer, forgiveness, and spiritual connection. Students learn how peace, reflection, and emotional release influence digestion, immunity, sleep, and overall energy.
Programs, Seminars & Community Education
SHEI partners with churches, schools, organizations, and community groups to deliver customized educational programs. These offerings may include multi-week training, weekend intensives, youth and family programs, workplace wellness sessions, health ministry development, and public seminars. Each program is designed to be engaging, relevant, and practical for diverse audiences. SHEI also provides speaking engagements, workshops, and cooking demonstrations led by Dr. James Peake. These events bring together education, inspiration, and hands-on learning, offering communities a transformative experience rooted in holistic principles.

The Choice Is Yours
Choose a diet that's based on whole foods, instead of processed foods, starting with whole fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds. As the name suggests, it's primarily based on plants. This type of diet is a whole package of nutrients, so there's not much need for supplements.
As a health practitioner and proponent of plant-based, whole food diets for people with disease, I believe food is medicine. However, the medical community doesn't advocate therapeutic use of whole food, plant-based nutrition and lifestyle interventions. Medical practitioners often don't give patients the benefit of the doubt, believing that people won't change their diet, so it's not worth taking the time to talk to them about nutrition. Fortunately, they are doctors that talk to patients about lifestyle changes that can help them.
I find that people are very responsive, and it's rewarding to see the improvements in well-being that can happen when patients take charge of their fitness and nutrition.
